Virtues of Seeking Knowledge
Virtues of Seeking Knowledge
Sep 20, 2024 3:16 PM

Allah Almighty says (what means): {Allah witnesses that there is no deity except Him, and [so do] the angels and those of knowledge – [that He is] maintaining [creation] in justice. There is no deity except Him, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.} [Quran 3: 18]

{So know [O Muhammad] that there is no deity except Allah and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allah knows of your movement and your resting place.} [Quran 47: 19]

He, Almighty, also says (what means): {and say: My Lord, increase me in knowledge.} [Quran 20: 114]

‘Uthman narrated that the Prophet said, “The best among you are those who learn Quran and teach it to others.” [Al-Bukhari]

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:

Whoever relieves a believer of a suffering of the sufferings of the worldly life, Allah will relieve him of a suffering from the sufferings of the Day of Resurrection. Whoever alleviates the hardship of someone in distress, Allah will alleviate his hardship in the worldly life and the Hereafter. Whoever conceals (the faults) of a Muslim, Allah will conceal his faults in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. Allah helps a servant so long as the servant is helping his brother. And whoever treads a path in search for knowledge, Allah will make that path lead him easily to Paradise. [Muslim]

Mu‘awiyah narrated that the Messenger of Allah said:

The one for whom Allah intends good, He gives him understanding of the religion. And I am only the distributor, while Allah is the Bestower. There shall remain a group of my Ummah victorious over those who contradict them until the command of Allah Almighty comes while they are victorious. [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Staying spiritually afloat
Like many Muslims today, I struggle with constancy in the remembrance of my Creator. I stay mostly mindful of being His servant, often finding myself subconsciously glorifying His name. But just as regularly I lapse and suddenly realize that my heart has slipped away, like the spinning helm of great...
Allah, the Almighty Loves deliberation - I

Maintaining discipline in worship
'Abdullah would rise before Fajr (dawn) each morning and rush to the Masjid to offer the prayer. He would return to the Masjid for Maghrib (sunset) and 'Ishaa' (night) prayers as well. He read the Quran daily. He studied other Islamic books in his spare time. He spent much of...
Moral Excellence in Islam

Allah, the Almighty Loves deliberation - II
We should be deliberate and not hasty in our speech. What makes us act hastily in any matter, without giving it careful consideration? As long as we are in the process of thinking and have not uttered any words or done an action, we still have the privilege of choice....
Ranks of Friends
Random selection of friendship Grab a pen and paper and try to write down the names of all your friends, and then classify them into categories. You will discover that some of them are not really friends but rather casual companions. One of them may be your fellow commuter whom...
Believers support each other
