Maareh-Geba

Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible

MAAREH-GEBA (AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ‘the meadows of Giheah,’ RVm [Note: Revised Version margin.] ‘the meadow of Geba’). The place from which the men placed in ambush rushed forth to attack the Benjamites ( Judges 20:33 ). There can be little doubt that we ought to emend MT [Note: Massoretic Text.] to ‘ to the west of Geba’ (better Gibeah ).
