15 Pro-Life Bible Verses
As Christians, we are pro-life because life began as a gracious act of the Lord God. The following Bible verses remind us that life is sacred. We will commence with Bible verses in Genesis, and culminate in Revelation.1. “So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (Genesis 1:27)
2. “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
3. “Did not He who made me in the womb make him? And did not One fashion us in the womb?” (Job 31:15)
4. “There was a certain man of Zorah, of the tribe of the Danites, whose name was Manoah. And his wife was barren and had no children. And the angel of the LORD appeared to the woman and said to her, “Behold, you are barren and have not borne children, but you shall conceive and bear a son. Therefore be careful and drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean, for behold, you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor shall come upon his head, for the child shall be a Nazirite to God from the womb, and he shall begin to save Israel from the hand of the Philistines.” (Judges 13:2-5)
5. “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them…” (Psalm 127:3-5a)
6. “For You formed my inward parts; You knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” (Psalm 139:13)
7. “How terrible it will be for anyone who argues with his Maker! He is like a broken piece of pottery lying on the ground. Does clay say to a potter, ‘What are you making?’ Does a pot say, ‘You don’t have any skill’? How terrible it will be for anyone who says to his father, ‘Why did you give me life?’ How terrible for anyone who says to his mother, ‘Why have you brought me into the world?’ The Lord is the Holy One of Israel. He made them. He says to them, ‘Are you asking me about what will happen to my children? Are you telling me what I should do with what my hands have made?’” (Isaiah 45:9-11)
8. “The Lord called me from the womb… formed me from the womb to be His servant.” (Isaiah 49:1,5)
9. “Before I formed you in your mother’s body I chose you. Before you were born I set you apart to serve Me. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

11. “But when He who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by His grace.” (Galatians 1:15)
12. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him.” (Ephesians 1:3-4)
13. “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” (Revelation 4:11)
14. “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)
15. “But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’” (Matthew 19:14)
15 Pro-Life Christian Quotes
These quotes from a variety of pastors, thinkers (and at least one medical doctor) help consider the many aspects of holding a pro-life view.1. “In biblical terms, the sanctity of human life is rooted and grounded in creation. Mankind is not viewed as a cosmic accident but as the product of a carefully executed creation by an eternal God. Human dignity is derived from God. Man as a finite, dependent, contingent creature is assigned a high value by his Creator.”—R.C. Sproul
2. “The Bible is a pro-life book, and our God is a pro-life God.”—Jess Ford

3. “From conception to our final breath on this earth, all life is a sacred gift from Almighty God. It must be cherished in our hearts and protected through our actions, both in our capacity as individuals and also through our laws and policies as a nation.”—Dr. James Dobson
4. “Every human life is precious. Unborn life is precious. Children with special needs are precious. Aging parents are precious—even when they don’t remember because they’re suffering dementia, they’re still made in the image of God. Children or parents who are non-verbal, those in a wheelchair, and those who are completely dependent upon you or doctors are precious. All of life matters to God. If we have our eyes open, we can see this in even the most surprising places in the Bible, like in the lex talionis of the Mosaic law. You see it in imago Dei. You see it in the incarnation where God entered the world as a helpless babe.”—Kevin DeYoung
5. “Human life is created in God’s image, and that makes it sacred.”—Colin S. Smith
6. “The Bible makes it clear that God sees the unborn infant not as a piece of superfluous biological tissue, but as a person created by Him for life.”—Billy Graham
7. “We walked out with only one path ahead. Life. We didn’t need more tests, more counseling, or more information. Levi deserved life, not primarily because of the joy he could bring us nor his potential quality of life, but supremely because God says his life has value, worth, and purpose. Period.”—Jared Mulvihill
8. “Is the unborn a member of the human family? If so, killing him or her to benefit others is a serious moral wrong. It treats the distinct human being with his or her own inherent moral worth, as nothing more than a disposable instrument. Conversely, if the unborn are not human, elective abortion requires no more justification than having a tooth pulled.”—Scott Klusendorf
9. “…Christians must equip themselves with the Word of God to preach and proclaim the glory of humanity enshrined in God’s creative mandate. Human beings at every stage of life, bear the image of God. To destroy image bearers intentionally is an act of high treason against the glory of our God who made man and woman in his image—an image that begins at conception. Christians need to contend for the sanctity of human life by equipping themselves with the powerful Word of the living God.”—R. Albert Mohler Jr.
10. “Psalm 139 is perhaps the quintessential text for discussing the sanctity of life. In this psalm, David praises God for his creation in his mother’s womb. Theologically, this psalm leaves no doubt that the child in the womb is a human being, with days ahead of him already marked out by God. Our God is deeply and actively involved in our creation. Theologically, life begins at conception.”—Matt Chandler
11. “What does Jesus’ challenge and commission in Matthew 28 have to do with His value for children in Matthew 19? I think these passages have everything to do with each other. For into a world that devalues children, Jesus has given His followers a clear commission. That Great Commission has everything to do with the sanctity of human life.”—David Platt
12. “God sanctifies human life. Every beating heart matters to God. Whether that life is in the womb of a mother, the cell of a prison, the hallway of a convalescent home, or the corner office of a Wall Street high rise, that life is holy to God.”—Max Lucado
13. “The Scriptures tell us that humans are made ‘in the image of God’ (Genesis 1:27). Because we are made in His likeness, we have a tremendous capacity to participate in God’s ongoing work of creation by imagining, inventing, building, farming and a million other creative expressions. Best of all, He invites us to marry and receive the gift of children also formed in God’s image.”—Kurt Bruner
14. “…I have a sense of satisfaction in my career, best indicated perhaps by the fact that no family has ever come to me and said: ‘Why did you work so hard to save the life of my child?’ And no grown child has ever come back to ask me why.”—C. Everett Koop
15. “Our Lord healed the sick, raised Lazaurs from the dead, gave back sanity to the deranged, but never did He practice or envisage killing as part of the mercy that held possession of His heart.”—Malcolm Muggeridge
